Obituary of David G. Kopp

Fairport - Formerly of East Rochester, on August 5, 2019 at age 89. He is predeceased by his brother, James. Dave is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellie; children, Kevin (Kari), Linda (James) Jenkins and Krista (Ronald) Reed; grandchildren, George (Amanda) and Andrew (Katie) Lambrix, Harrison and Katie Jenkins, Olivia and Genevieve Kopp; great-grandchildren, Della and Kayla Lambrix; sister-in-law, Donna Kopp; many nieces and nephews.

Dave, an Army veteran serving during the Korean War, dedicated his life to his family and to his work as an equipment engineer for Rochester Telephone Corporation. He was happiest when taking Ellie and the kids on trips in their Volkswagen camper or spending time around the house, attending to all the odd jobs and fix-it projects every home requires. He loved black coffee served before dinner (not so much after), a rousing game of euchre with his friends, World War II History, collecting many postcards and books pertaining to aviation, hiding eggs at Easter time, and serving patients at Monroe Community Hospital by volunteering to install adaptive electrical equipment to ease their disabilities (such as making overhead lights blink when the phone rang for people who were hard of hearing).

Dave will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband to his beloved Ellie, a kind and caring father grandfather, and great grandfather to his three children, six grandchildren, two great granddaughters and a good and dependable friend to many, including the ladies who doted on him in his Bible study group at East Rochester United Methodist Church. His presence, quiet demeanor, humility, and subtle smile will be deeply missed.

Friends may call at Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington Street, East Rochester, Sunday, August 11, 1-4 PM. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, 11 AM at East Rochester United Methodist Church, 357 Fairport Road, East Rochester. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
