Obituary of Ann Moore

Anna (Ann) Marie (Murphy) Moore passed away with family by her side on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the age of 88.

Ann grew up in Woodhaven, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Lucy Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Moore; son-in-law, Mike McIntyre; and siblings, Helen Doyle, Charles Murphy, Dennis Murphy, and Christopher Murphy.

Ann was a loving mother to six daughters, Diane Koska (Ed), Maureen DiMaggio (Gerry), Janice McIntyre (Mike), Lorraine Andrews, Marilyn Kress (Marc), and Tricia Rodenhizer (Sam). She was dearly loved by her nine grandchildren, Dan DiMaggio (Elaine), Michael McIntyre (Heather), Sara DiCaglio (Josh), Kathryn Tramontozzi (Dave), Stephanie Zimmerman (Billy), Jake Koska, Andrei Koska, Billy Vetrano, and Jackie Andrews, and by her five great- grandchildren, Alyssa, Milo, Lauren, Nellie, and Julian. She is also survived by her sisters, Lucy Jensen and Mary Hubbard (Mike).

Ann’s greatest passion was crocheting, a God-given gift that she shared with friends, family, and strangers alike. Her Christmas presents each year were a labor of love, beautiful items that she had spent hours handcrafting for each family member. She thoughtfully picked each gift knowing everyone’s personal favorites, from one-of-a kind Barbie furniture for her granddaughters to the full cast of Winnie the Pooh, The Night Before Christmas, and Rudolph for her great-grandchildren. Every bride received a custom bridal doll and every newborn one of her signature “Wacky Quackies.” Each Christmas, her ornaments that adorn the trees of her family will continue as reminders of the love she shared through crocheting.

Ann also spent countless hours crocheting items for donation, including hats for newborns and preemies, stuffed toys for children in the hospital, and fidget blankets for dementia patients. Her heartfelt work has brought countless smiles and will be cherished forever.

Ann was also an avid reader, especially of World War 2 books. She enjoyed Irish music (especially Ronan Tynan), British murder mysteries, and the Curse of Oak Island. She was hopeful they would find the treasure soon.

A woman of great faith, Ann’s spirit of respect, kindness, and unconditional love shined through in her interactions with others. She treated everyone with dignity, with rarely a negative word said. She was a great listener, always remembering details big and small to ask about in your next conversation. She was a devoted wife and a proud, caring mother to her six girls. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the “apples of her eye,” which she made sure they knew and felt every chance she had. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield, N.Y. 14526, followed by a private interment.
