Paul Julien is one of my favorite high school teachers of all time (it is a close call between him an Carol Fenton) having him for 8th grade social studies at Charlotte High School (1958). The class met for two periods every day as I remember so it was very interesting and special. The things I remember the most were the class meetings, a project about a state (I did Louisiana), and a project about the career we would like to embark on after college (mine was on Chemical Engineering (I actually graduated in Chem E from Michigan in 1966)). The meetings were a democratic process but he always had 51% of the vote. We voted to go to his cottage in the summer. I think we went even with his 51% of the vote. The projects included a lot of research and even interviews so they taught us a lot. I still have both final reports. . I was so lucky to be at the same table with Mr. Julien at our classes 47th reunion.
